Why jonlind.dk?
This site is primarily my online notebook of my outdoor life. The target group is first and foremost myself, my family and friends. If others enjoy my writings, that is of course excellent.
I have used blogspot and other sites for blogs in the past. It just never quite worked for me as I find the options too limited. I have had my domain hosted for a long time, which includes a database and php as standard. However, I never got beyond creating a static site. That changed in the meantime when I finally got myself together to research how to get started with wordpress.
It turns out that you simply download a version of wordpress, configure database access in a configuration file and copy the wordpress files to the root of your web server. When you then access your website, you get the option to create an administrator user. After that, it is “just” to produce some content in a super intuitive user interface. It took 10-15 minutes to get up and running.
Who is Jon Lind?
I was born in 1964 and grew up in Albertslund and later in Inner City of Copenhagen. I live in a historical place called Nyboder with my wife, our 3 adult children and our dog, Balder.
My educational background is that I trained as a carpenter and later studied as a computer scientist. On a daily basis, I work as a programmer in a medium-sized IT company, where I have been for many years. I use my craftsman background in connection with the renovation of our old houses.
My interests are numerous and diverse. At the moment I am mainly interested in:
- Hiking and Micro Adventures
- Hunting
- Fishing
My other interests include:
- Photography
- Drone flying
- Motorcycle tours on my Triumph Bonneville T100
- Woodworking with hand tools
- Board gaming
- History and archaeology
I also read quite a few books. Both non-fiction and fiction.
